I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.
I would like to spend the next 365 days–and all 24 hours of each day–searching not for calories or outrage, but for the beauty and the service that are what make me happy. I was fortunate to have as a friend, a mentor, and a teacher, the remarkable Marian Seldes, whom I met in 1978, and spoke to and followed around regularly for three decades. I am sharing her thoughts and her way of looking at things. I know it will help me get by. I hope it will help you as well.
