Marian Seldes: The Theatre Is My Religion

0906DCA XX035

I’ve been around for so long that I know or I have worked with everyone, so I go into the theatre loving at least one person in the play. I want everything to go well. I want them to be having a wonderful time both in the creation and the sharing of the play. Before I knew so many people, I found someone in the cast to love right away, and soon I loved them all. The theatre is my religion, my church. I want it to work, and my heroes are those who work in it. I love them through the work and toward the best of the work.
